Travel Team Rules:  We use GA USSSA rules.  You can access those rules here.

 

All Star Rules:   We use Dizzy Dean rules.

Fall Classic (Travel Ball) Specific Rules

  • No time limit on Championship games
  • Games are 1 hour 30 minutes (finish the inning if the game is tied or if home team is losing. If home team is winning…. or losing and mathematically eliminated per run rule at time limit, game is over)
  • Maximum 6 runs per inning in all age groups
  • Ties are allowed in pool games
  • Rain Policy:  Any game that is stopped due to weather will be considered complete if 3 innings have been completed or if the home team is winning after 2.5 innings.
  • Home/Visitor is determined by coin flip in all pool games
  • Higher seed is Home Team in bracket play
  • Tie in bracket play:  Both teams start the next inning with last out (from previous inning) on 2nd base
  • Teams provide 2 balls each game (1 new, 1 gently used)
  • All uniforms must have a number
  • Bats:  Using Cooperstown rules…if you can swing it, bring it.
  • Pitching Rules:  Using Cooperstown rules…coaches use best judgement
  • Leads and stealing are allowed in all ages
  • Free defensive substitutions
  • 1 minute between innings (have p and c ready to warm up as soon as inning ends)
  • P and C may be run for on bases (use last batted out)
  • If C is not ready when inning ends, a coach should fill in to warm up P
  • At end of game, both coaches must sign the game card provided by the umpire to confirm game score
  • All scores will be updated on our website immediately
  • Seeding rules and parent information can be found below
  • In the event of a forfeit, the team will win with a 6-0 score (1 run per inning)

  2. Head to head (if only two teams tied)
  3. Runs Allowed
  4. Runs Scored
  5. Coin Flip


Parent information:

  • Gate fees: Adults $5, Kids 6-18 $3, Kids 5U Free. (No gate fee for Friday games)
  • Players and 4 coaches per team are free.
  • Please exhibit good sportsmanship…cheer for your team, but do not engage negatively with the opponent.
  • Getting onto umpires is a baseball tradition, but not at War in the Woods Tournaments.  We are here to be good examples for the children.  We will quickly remove anyone making a spectacle in the crowd.
  • Rainout policy:  If you play zero games due to rain, you will receive 85% of your registration fee back (the 15% covers all start-up costs).  If you play 1 game, you receive 50% back.  Once you play 2 games, there will not be a refund.
  • Daily Gate fees are non-refundable.

 

War in the Woods/Midsummer Classic Specific Rules

  • Rules are Dizzy Dean with a few tweaks for our tourney
  • Teams will provide 1 new and 1 gently used ball to begin each game
  • All uniforms must have a number
  • Game times: 6U, 7U, 8U: 65 minutes…  9U/10U: 75 minutes
  • Rain Policy:  Any game that is stopped due to weather will be considered complete if 3 innings have been completed or if the home team is winning after 2.5 innings.
  • Championship Game:  If games are scheduled after your championship game there is a 65/75 min time limit.  Championship games without a game scheduled after, 6/7/8 play a complete game (run rule can end the game)… 9/10 have a two hour time limit.
  • If the clock runs out, we will finish the inning unless the home team is leading and is up to bat
  • In 9/10U, no pitching stipulations…coaches use best judgement to keep everyone safe
  • In 9/10U, no leading until ball crosses the plate
  • In 9/10U,  runners from 3rd cannot score on pass balls
  • In 9/10U, steals allowed once ball crosses plate (only exception is no steals of home on passed balls)
  • In 9/10U, dropped 3rd strike, batter is still out
  • Ties are allowed in pool games
  • 6 runs maximum per inning
  • In pool games, home team is determined by coin flip by the umpire prior to start
  • In bracket games, home team is the higher seed
  • All ages play with real baseballs, including 6U
  • Bats shall be permanently stamped with the new USSSA 1.15 BPF Mark, BBCOR.50 Certified Mark, USA Baseball Certified Mark or made of wood.
  • Umps will push 1 minute between innings…have your team ready
  • Free defensive substitutions
  • You may bat the entire team in the lineup
  • In coach pitch, 5 pitches maximum per at bat…foul ball on last pitch extends the at bat
  • Catcher may be pinch run for (if you would like) by the last batted out
  • In the event of a tie in bracket play, both teams start the next inning with the last out (from the previous inning) on 2nd base
  • Coaches must sign the game card (umpire will provide) with the final score after the game (this locks in the score for the website)
  • All scores will be updated on the website in a timely manner
